Anna-Joy's total lack of self-control (and self-awareness)

This morning I was feeding Anna-Joy and as she's laying there happily eating, looking around, kicking her feet ... would you believe she farted on me?!? Seriously - who does that? Doesn't she know how inappropriate that is? And she wasn't even embarrassed - not in the least!

She made me think of how painfully self-aware we become as we grow up. We're not just self-aware, but we're self-conscious - constantly looking around to see who noticed that we just tripped over our own feet. Anna-Joy is so free right now, and I pray somehow we can raise her to continue in this freedom. We become enslaved to the opinions of others so easily, so "naturally." But it is the farthest thing from natural. God has made us to be free from the worry of impressing others. This is what is truly natural.
